Didcot Railway Trip
Club Outing: 2002

Pictures...

While most of the club’s members who went on the trip went to the G.W.R. at Toddington, the Thomas trio decided to go to Didcot, one of the other options on the list of possible locations for the trip.
An advantage of Didcot is that it provides access to most areas of the yard, you are also allowed in the cab of some locos. A board in front of the static locos gave information on the class as a whole, the particular engine and key facts and dates.

They are undertaking a few restoration projects too, including single chimney 6023 King Edward II, Pendennis Castle which was brought back from Australia and an old auto-coach being re-converted back to a Steam Railmotor. In the shed they are building a replica of the broad gauge engine `Firefly`, and already have appropriate wagons and track .

As you are free to wander around, you are able to have a good look at details – I had a good view of Diesel Railcar no. 22, of which I have a Lima model.

I must end now, as I have homework to do!
